Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister
TEWKSBURY: Jeanette A. (Rooney) Dunbar, age 78, a resident of Tewksbury for 49 years, passed away at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
She was the beloved wife of Frank P. Dunbar with whom she celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 10, 2014.
Born in Boston on June 21, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Stephen F. and Bernice V. (d’Eon) Rooney.
Jeanette was raised in Medford, attended Medford schools and graduated from Medford High School in 1955.
In earlier years, she worked as a payroll clerk for the Employers Group Insurance Company in Boston, where she and her husband first met.
Following their marriage, Jeanette was a stay at home Mom and dedicated her life to her family.
She resided in Medford and Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Tewksbury in 1966.
Jeanette was a communicant of St. Dorothy’s Parish in Wilmington and the Star of Sea Parish in York Beach, Maine.
She enjoyed many activities including knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her family at York Beach in Maine.
In addition to her husband Frank, she is survived by four children, Donna M. Makuc and her husband James of Boylston, Stephen P. Dunbar of Tewksbury, Patricia A. Spiegel and her husband Andrew of Tewksbury, and John M. Dunbar and his wife Rosemary of Dracut; six grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Makuc, Zachary Spiegel, Emalee, Maya, and Abby Dunbar; her brother, Stephen M. “Steve” Rooney and his wife Shirley of York, ME; also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Monday, July 6, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, July 7, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St., Rte. 38, Wilmington. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
