FRAMINGHAM: Antonetta “Nettie” (Verdy) Ekonomy, age 86, of Framingham, passed away on Thursday morning, July 2, 2015, at Saint Patrick’s Manor. She had been the devoted wife of William P. Ekonomy for 42 years at the time of his death in 1994.
Born and raised in Framingham, Nettie was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gligeria (Kreshpani) Verdy. She was a 1947 graduate of Framingham High School.
Nettie was a member of the Annunciation Orthodox Church in Natick throughout her life, and had enjoyed her membership with the church’s women’s club, Vetetima. Employed with Jordan Marsh in Framingham for 28 years, she retired in 1993.
She is survived by two sons, Karl Ekonomy and his wife Janet of Texas, and James Ekonomy and his wife Kimberly Kayser of Natick; four grandchildren, Kristin Tidwell and her husband Cody, and Justin Ekonomy of Texas, and Victoria Ekonomy and Alexis Ekonomy of Natick; her brother, Elias “Lou” Verdy of Framingham; and a sister-in-law, Mary Verdy, also of Framingham. She was also the aunt of Michael Verdy and his wife Dorrie, Brian Verdy, Karen Kisty and her husband Jeff, and Lynne Redonnett and her husband Dave. Nettie was predeceased by her brother, Basil Verdy, Mary’s husband, and sister-in-law Helen Verdy, Lou’s wife.
Her funeral will be held in the Annunciation Orthodox Church, 37 Washington Street, Natick, on Tuesday, July 7th at 10:30AM. She will then be laid to rest next to William at Dell Park Cemetery, Natick.
Visiting hours will be at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Monday, July 6th from 4 – 7PM. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Antonetta’s memory to the Annunciation Orthodox Church at the above address.
