Carlos Manuel Vargas, Sr., was born in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico on November 25, 1932 and was a long time resident of Santa Barbara, CA
Carlos passed away in the early morning of June 30, 2015 in Ventura, CA and is now reunited with his beautiful wife Yolanda Vargas. Carlos is also preceded in death by his loving parents, brother and sister Salvador and Maria “Mary” Vargas, Alfonso “Al” Vargas and Bertha “Lily” Vargas.
Carlos arrived in Santa Barbara in 1952 and met and married is beloved wife of 50 years Yolanda and they had three children. He worked at the Biltmore Hotel for over 25 years in various positions and retired as a pantry chef. Carlos had a passion for cooking and was known for his talent in catering and his specialties of magnificent salads. After he retired from the Biltmore he continued with his culinary and catering skills for his clients. Carlos also enjoyed working in his garden as well as his delighted pass times watching his favorites sports of soccer and baseball. He also loved to travel.
Carlos leaves behind his three adult children Carlos M. Vargas, Jr., (Rosa Nevarez), Daniel “Danny” A. Vargas (Mary Ellen), Martha S. Vargas (Daniel Thorne).
Brother and sisters, Consuelo “Connie” Vargas, Salvador “Sal” Vargas, Jr. (Rosario “Chayo” Montes), Patricia “Pat” Romero (Robert “Bob”) and sister-in-law Guadalupe “Lupe” Vargas.
He also leaves his beloved Grandchildren and (great-grandchildren) Evette Vargas (Marc Anthony Espinosa), Annikka Rodriguez (Camilla Anaya Romo), Chanel Vargas, Lizette Vargas, Lindel Vargas, Milena Ramirez (Izayah Damian Lozano), Aaliyah Hagen and Arlene Vargas.
Carlos also leaves his wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours Thursday July 9, 2015 from 2 – 6 pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 East Main Street, Ventura, a Most Holy Rosary will be recited later that day at 7 p.m. in San Buenaventura Mission, 211 E. Main Street, Ventura. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday July 10, 2015 at 11 am in San Buenaventura Mission followed by Interment in Calvary Cemetery, 199 North Hope Avenue Santa Barbara, CA 93110.
