Obituary

Richard N. Kesner of Owl’s Head ME, formerly of Needham died on Monday April 11, 2005 at the Maine Medical Center. He was 76 years old. A native of Massachusetts, he was born in Cambridge and attended both Haverhill High School and Phillips Andover Academy. Richard was a World War Ii U.S. Navy veteran, serving on an aircraft carrier that was engaged in the training of pilots. He later attended the University of Chicago. He was a Mr. Kesner was a retired Engineering Administrator for the Polaroid Corp in Waltham. He spent many years in Needham, and together with his wife Patricia, raised four children, which he felt was the most fulfilling accomplishment of his life. Richard and Patricia retired to Maine in 1988. He was the beloved husband for 42 years of Patricia (Crosby) and the late Gretchen (McGregor). Father of Jennifer Kesner of Rowley and Sheepscot ME, Linda Savage of Knox ME, Scott Godfrey of Gaithersburg MD and Ronald Godfrey of Ashland. Brother of Elizabeth Tidd of Guilford NH and Fred Kimball of Saco ME. Also survived by 10 grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Friday April 15 at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday morning from 10:00-11:30. Interment at Needham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Richard’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 2680, Canton Ohio 44720 or to the American Lung Association of Massachusetts, 25 Spring Street, Walpole MA 02081-4302.
