Humphries, James J. of Wellesley Hills, passed away early on June 16 after 83 years of rabblerousing. Those who knew him knew he was smart; sometimes charming, sometimes cranky, always a riot. After graduating high school early, he earned a few degrees from MIT and led an inspired career pioneering the nuclear and solar industries. He loved golfing at Nehoiden and played a round every day for as long as he could. He was a long-standing member at the Boston Yacht Club where he moored his boat, the Encore, and drank his Marbleheaders. He was predeceased by his wife, the center of his world, Ruth Humphries, and missed her dearly for ten years, never leaving the house in Wellesley they had called home together. He leaves behind his daughter Ruth and her husband Michael, his son Robert and his wife Kimberly, his son John and his wife Jan. JJ was a big brother to Lynn Humphries and the G’pop to his four loving grandchildren Anna, Sarah, Evan, and Kelly.
