Robert A. Murphy, 71, of 572 Burncoat St. died Monday, April 4, in the Radius Healthcare Center.
He leaves three sisters, Marie T. Gagan of Worcester, Sr. Helen Murphy of the Sisters of Providence in Holyoke and Dorothy wife of John Reddy of Clinton; a brother, James A. Murphy Sr. and his wife Joan of Charleston, RI; nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand nephews. A brother, Thomas Murphy, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Michael A. and M. Helen (Conway) Murphy and graduated from St. Peter’s High School.
Robert worked for several years in the maintenance department for the College of the Holy Cross and was a salesman for many years for various companies. He was a lover of animals, especially dogs and his compassionate nature will never be forgotten. He loved the Red Sox and lived long enough to see them win the World Series.
The funeral will be held Thursday, April 7, from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling Hours are Thursday, April 7, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
