Obituary

WORCESTER: Catherine M. "Katie" Kelly, 91, of Peaks Island, Maine, formerly of Worcester, died Friday, April 1, 2005 at Seaside Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, in Portland, Maine.
She leaves two sisters-in-law, Irene M. Kelly of Worcester, Anita L. Kelly of Shrewsbury, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Her two sisters and five brothers all predeceased her: Helen Kelly, Francis P. Kelly, Walter F. Kelly, Rev. James B. Kelly, Joseph T. Kelly, John T. Kelly, and Mary V. Steuterman.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Patrick J. and Abbie T. (Donohue) Kelly and graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester, class of 1931. She moved to Peaks Island in 1974 where she was active in many community and parish organizations. She enjoyed her home by the ocean and extending warm hospitality to her large family and especially to many priests of the Worcester Diocese.
Katie was assistant director at the Worcester Office of the Department of Public Welfare where she worked for 40 years until retiring in 1974. She was a member of St. Christopher's Church on Peaks Island and attended St. Bernard's Church when visiting in Worcester.
CALLING HOURS will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St.. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, in ST. BERNARD'S CHURCH, 228 Lincoln St., followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery. The family suggests donations in Katie's memory be made to St. Bernard's Church, 236 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605.
