Constance B. (Harris) Rooney, 78, a 35-year resident of Bradford, passed away on June 20, 2015. She was the loving wife of the late John J. Rooney for 48 years until his passing in 2004.
Born in Yonkers, NY, Connie was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Bernice (Gregory) Harris. She was raised and educated in Winchester, MA, and was a graduate of Winchester High School. Mrs. Rooney worked for many years as an underwriter’s assistant for American Mutual Life Insurance Company in Wakefield, MA.
In her spare time, she collected porcelain dolls. She was especially fond of her Lucille Ball and Marilyn Monroe dolls. Connie enjoyed watching TV, and from time to time could be found engrossed in her favorite shows, “I Love Lucy”, “Golden Girls” and “Criminal Minds”. She also thoroughly loved the company of her grandchildren, and enjoyed baking special treats from her proud Greek heritage – especially Baklava and Greek cookies. Connie’s children recalled that holiday gatherings in her home were “legendary”. The table was always piled high from corner to corner with home-made pastries, as she loved nothing more than to see the family devour them.
Mrs. Rooney is survived by her children: Michael Rooney and wife Patty of Londonderry, NH, April Hallisey and husband Jack, Robin Murphy and husband Patrick, Michelle Rooney and husband Johnny, all of Haverhill, Terry Ouellette and husband Kevin of Derry, NH, Shawn Rooney and wife Sheryl of Salisbury and the late Scott Rooney. She was the dear sister of Maryann Pierce of Stewart, FL and brother Nicholas Harris of West Yarmouth, the devoted grandmother of Samantha, Jay, Jen, Amber, Shawn, Scott, George, Jonathan, James and Mariah and is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Friday, June 26 @ 10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
