Obituary

Worcester—Gunnar E. Nelson, 93, died peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2005, in Hemmet, CA. His first wife, Helen V. (Gustavson) Nelson, died in 1984. He leaves a son with whom he lived, Paul R. Nelson; 4 daughters, Debra A. Mazzola of Shrewsbury, Hope E. Mancini of Worcester, Ruth E. Cutting of Worcester, and Naomi B. Lariviere of Merrimack, NH; a sister, Martha Dempster of CA; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Viola Nelson of Auburn; and his second wife, Una Nelson. He was predeceased by 2 daughters, Priscilla E. Romar and Faith E. Johnson; a son, David E. Nelson; and a brother T. Edward Nelson.

He was born in Worcester, son of John and Ellen (Hook) Nelson. He worked as an electrician and also at Norton Co. for many years. He was a member of Belmont Street Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Belmont Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 5-8 Thursday, March 31, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to the Autism Resource Center 360 W Boylston St Suite 204, West Boylston MA 01583 or the Belmont Street Baptist Church Camp Fund, 25 Belmont St Worcester MA 01605.
