Obituary

Worcester – Francis J. Elliott, Sr., died on Sunday March 27 in the Christopher House after an illness.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice C. (Greene) Elliott; one son Francis J. Elliott Jr.; two daughters Alice C. Carreau and Gloria R. MacKoul all of Worcester; two grandsons; two granddaughters; six great grandsons; three great great grandsons; a sister Gloria R. Grondalski of Worcester and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Elliott was predeceased by two sisters.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Frank J. and Rose L. (Pelletier) Elliott, he lived here all of his life.

An Army veteran of WWII, he served in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Bronze Star Medal. Elements of his unit, the 273rd Inf. Reg., 69th Inf. Div. were the first to link up with the Russian Army at the Elbe River. He was a member of the “Fighting 69th” Infantry Division Association; the veterans of the Battle of the Bulge; the Charles f. Minney VFW Post 3329 in Millbury; and the Vernon Hill American legion Post 435 of Worcester.

Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester was in charge of arrangements. Private burial with full Military Honors was held. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Webster Square Day Care Center, Inc. 1048 Main Street Worcester, MA 01603, for the benefit of the children.
