BRIDGEWATER - John M. Trovato, 52, of Bridgewater, formerly of Plymouth, died Friday at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Ellie P. Bassick-Trovato.
Born in Boston on Feb. 8, 1953, a son of John B. and Dorothy L. (McLellan) Trovato of Dedham, he grew up in Dedham and was a graduate of Dedham schools.
A graduate of Westfield State College, Mr. Trovato was a former principle of Plymouth South Middle School, as well as a former math teacher at Plymouth South Middle School. He also taught at Gates Intermediate School in Scituate.
Most recently, Mr. Trovato was the assistant superintendent for the East Bridgewater public school system.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Trovato of Plymouth and Bridgewater; his son, Benjamin B. Trovato of Bridgewater; four sisters, Jeanne M. Kozak, Judy Loftus, JoAnne Avery and Jane Ritchie, all of Norwood and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Plymouth South Middle School in Plymouth. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours are Wednesday in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rt. 18), Bridgewater, from 4-8 p.m.
