Obituary

Arlene E. (Pepper) O'Neil-Locke, (Retired Boston Police Department) a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at her son's home in Wakefield following an extended illness. She was 76 years old.

Arlene was born in Boston on March 4, 1939, a daughter of the late Frederick Pepper and Elizabeth (Flynn) Pepper. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Later on in her life, Arlene received her Associates Degree from Bunker Hill Community College. Arlene worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Homicide Unit of The Boston Police Department and retired in 2007 after 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston. Arlene was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed the quality time she spent with each one of her grandchildren.

Arlene is the devoted mother of Edward F. O'Neil and his wife Nancy of Walpole and Darryl Locke (Retired New York Police Department Detective) and his wife Kristi of Wakefield. She is the loving Nanny to Brendan O'Neil, Michael Locke, Brigid Locke and Owen Locke. She is the beloved sister of Dorothy Duffy of Burlington and the late Barbara Kristoff. She is also the loving aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Arlene's Funeral on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
