Raymond C. Amo, age 91, of Lowell, formerly of Stoneham, Woburn and South Yarmouth, passed away peacefully at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford on June 14, 2015, after several years of declining health. He was a proud Marine Corps Veteran of WWII and saw active battle in the Pacific prior to his honorable discharge in 1945. Ray worked as an engineer with the Boston & Maine Railroad and retired in 1984 after 34 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Martha (Lynn) Amo. He was the devoted stepfather of Thomas G. Kenny and his wife Miho of Ipswich, Kathleen Kenny of Woburn, and James Kenny of Billerica. Loving grandfather of Susan Parke and her husband Damon of No. Andover, Thomas G. Kenny, Jr. and his wife Jill of Lowell, Ariel and Alina Kenny, both of Ipswich. Loving great grandfather of Thomas J. Kenny and Cadence Parke. Brother of Lois MacKenzie of Stoneham. Ray is preceded in death by his first wife, the late Alice (Cryan) Amo, and five sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, June 19th, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday, from 5 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
