Obituary

ALLAN, George G. “Dacy” of Hyde Park, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at home after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Rogers) Allan.
Born and raised in East Dedham, he graduated from Dedham High School. He was a proud United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and had been employed by the New England Telephone Company for over 30 years.
In his early days, George was quite the athlete. He ran track in high school, played softball with his telephone colleagues, and enjoyed playing hockey and golf with family and friends.
George enjoyed the simple things in life such as savoring a good meal, reading the newspaper cover to cover, watching the planes, birds, and boats travel by, and hanging with his dog and best pal, Gonzo. He was also an amazing handyman who could fix anything.
He was an exceptional husband, father, brother, and friend. In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by his loving daughters, Julie Allan of Hyde Park and Jeanmarie Allan of Weymouth, his sister Jessie Tenaglia of Quincy, his brothers John “Bud” Allan of Kansas, Gordon Allan of Florida, his brother-in-law Tom Rogers and many more family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother William “Billy” Allan and brother-in-law and friend Tony Tenaglia.
He will be remembered for his welcoming smile, his kind, mild manner, and his unwavering selflessness. Anyone who knew George can attest to the fact that he was the ultimate gentleman.
He was an intelligent, sensitive man who would do anything for his family and friends and will be sorely missed by all.
Visiting hours will be held at the Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, Tuesday, June 16, from 6-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be private.
