HOLDEN-Phyllis Virginia (Larson)Young, 94, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 11, 2015 in her home at 25 Lowell Ave, Holden.
Phyllis was born August 29, 1920 in Ridgeway, PA of Irene (Engstrom) and Carl Larson. Her three brothers, William, Lester and George and one sister, Hazel all predeceased her, as she was the youngest in her family. In 1944, she married Reginald A Young of Cortland, NY and had three children: Ronald, Susan and Gregory, all of whom live in the Mooresville, Huntersville, and Denver, NC area. Her husband of 68 years predeceased her in 2013.
Phyllis and her husband in 1964 started a small manufacturing company, Wireway, in Worcester, MA with 3 employees. The business remains in operation to this day, recently celebrating it 50th anniversary. In 1981, an effort to expand in NC began and today the combined employment level stands at 210. The business manufactures wire partitioning in MA and pallet racks in NC and is managed by family members, now into a third generation.
Being devoted to her family, Phyllis remained very protective of her children and all of her actions were that of a Momma Bear: beware all who appear to get between Momma and Baby Bears!
She loved to play golf, card games and slot machines. She loved to read romance novels and watch the Patriots, Bruins and Red Sox. Everyone who knew her misses her very much!
Phyllis lived a full life with 10 grand children and 16 great grand children.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11AM in FAY BROTHERS Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston. Burial will be private.
