Mr. John J. “Jack” Meli, a resident of Atkinson, New Hampshire since 2000, formerly of Andover and beloved husband of Isabel V. (Correa) Meli, passed away at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2015. He was 79 years old.
Born in Medford, Massachusetts, on April 8, 1936, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph P. and Flora I. (Glorioso) Meli. John was a Korean Army veteran, entering the military at Boston on October 10, 1955 and receiving his honorable discharge from Fort Devens on October 9, 1958. Mr. Meli attained the rank of PVT-1 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for his service. In civilian life, Mr. Meli graduated from North Eastern University and worked as an Electronic Designer and founded his own company P.L.E. (Product Line Engineering). He also had been employed as a realtor for Century 21 and Better Homes and Gardens for many years. In his spare time, John was an avid golfer and had played softball in the City of Medford. Above all, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his beloved wife, Isabel, John is survived by his loving children; Victoria L. and her husband Scott J. Perkins of Whitman, Michelle M. Ruhmann of Chelmsford and John A. and his wife Stephanie M. Meli of Burlington, Vermont, sister; Ann and her husband Arnold Marrocco of Woburn, brother; Joseph and his wife Dolores Meli of North Reading, grandchildren; Zachary, Nathan, Samantha, Madison, Erik, Harper and Alena and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Monday, June 15, 2015, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Sunday, June 14, 2015, from 3 to 7 PM. Interment will be privately held.
