Charles I. Wilkinson, 98, of Hudson, died on Tuesday, June 9th at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 67 plus years to the late Beatrice M. (Brown) Wilkinson.
Charles was born and raised in Ulster, PA, son of the late William T. and Hettie A. (Brown) Wilkinson. He has been a longtime resident of Hudson and was a retired foreman working for Mayfield Plastics Co. in Worcester. He was an active member of the Hudson Senior Center and delivered meals through the Meals on Wheels program until he was 90 years old. He spent time as a member of the Civil Defense during WWII. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hudson.
Charles was very active throughout his life. He took great pride in the care of his home in Hudson. He enjoyed gardening and doing yard work around the house. He always looked forward to the many camping trips he and his family took in his younger years. Later, after retiring, he and his wife Beatrice enjoyed spending the winter months at their Florida residence. Most of all he cherished the times he spent with his family, especially later with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his two great-great grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his five children, Charles R. Wilkinson, Joan M. Wilkinson, Sally A. Wilkinson, David P. Wilkinson and his wife Susan, all of Hudson and Marcia J. Cairns of West Boylston. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Joyce Ann Wilkinson and his son-in-law, Edward Cairns. As well as by his brother, Sanford Wilkinson of Pennsylvania; his sister, Martha Burlingame of New York.
A funeral service and celebration of Charles’ life will be held on Saturday June 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow at Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
