New Bedford – Joao Medeiros, 84, of New Bedford, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Maria Odelia (Arruda) Medeiros. He was the father of Maria Silveira, Antone Medeiros, John David Medeiros, Almerinda DaCosta and Richard Medeiros all of New Bedford. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Medeiros was the brother of the late Antonio, Jose and Manuel Medeiros and Isabel Cabral and Maria dos Anjos Estoureiro.
Mr. Medeiros was born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and lived in this area since 1966. He worked as a machine operator at Columbia Electronics until his retirement.
Mr. Medeiros’ funeral will be Tuesday, March 22, 2005, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Rivet St. New Bedford, MA. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday, March 21, 2005 from 6 – 9 P.M.
