Obituary

It is with heavy heart we mourn the passing of Dolores Olivera, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Dolores was born August 14, 1937 to Clara and Gilbert Encinas in Ventura, California. She was one of seven siblings. Dolores attended local Ventura schools and was proud to be a Native Californian and call Ventura her lifelong home.
On May 25th, 1955 Dolores married the love of her life David Olivera. This would be an everlasting love that started with a Saturday night dance and continued for a lifetime of many happy memories, milestones and sorrow. They had just recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Mom took great comfort in her faith and was a life-long parishioner of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church.
Dolores was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She was a licensed day care provider, offering a loving home and wonderful meals to many children.
Mom enjoyed sewing doll clothes, crocheting, working on puzzles and in her and Dad's retirement years keeping the best stocked RV for their many camping and fishing trips to the Sierras. The fishing stories were great and her choice of bait a secret.
Dolores is preceded in death by her mother Clara, father Gilbert, sons Ralph Brite, David and granddaughter Angela Olivera. Dolores is survived by her husband of 60 years David Olivera, son Robin Olivera (wife Naomi), Richard Olivera, and Rhonda Sherk; grandchildren Troy, Chad and Evan Olivera, Sierra and Breanna Olivera, Caitlin, Sonny Michael, David Cody Olivera, Miranda, Kiriana and Melia Sherk; as well as seven great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Montano.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours Tuesday June 9, 2015 from 2 to 6pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 E. Main Street Ventura. A Most Holy Rosary will be recited at 10am on Wednesday June 10, 2015 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 3175 Telegraph Road Ventura followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Church at 10:30am. Interment will immediately follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
