Imelda "Del" (Messier) Hilton, 92, of New Bedford died Sunday June 7, 2015 at Our Lady's Haven.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late George A. and Leda M. (Pelletier) Messier, she lived in Rhode Island, Cape Cod, Florida, and New Hampshire before returning to New Bedford.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church.
Del was a professional vocalist who sang at many area weddings, anniversary parties, and private parties. She had been involved in numerous social and musical activities.
She is survived by her brother, Gerald R. Messier; her daughter-in-law, Karen Grimshaw; two grandsons, Eric and Timothy Grimshaw; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roderick F. McKenna, her son, Alan Grimshaw, Jr., and her siblings, Capt. Bertrand G. Messier and Gertrude Messier.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Visiting hours are omitted. A private burial service will be held in Sandwich Town Cemetery.
