Mr. Leo “Rusty” Hooben, of Falmouth, died Saturday, June 6 in the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Arouca) Hooben. He was born 59 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Leo A. and Lois A. (Lovell) Hooben. He was educated in Taunton and had been a Falmouth resident for the past 31 years. A self-employed Master Carpenter for most of his life, Leo owned and operated R & C Carpentry in Falmouth. In high school, he worked for the Great Elm Greenhouses in Brockton. He was a member of the Wareham Lodge of Elks. Leo enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, playing softball on the R & C Carpentry team, taking cross country trips, his many new cars, skiing, and socializing with his friends. He was a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Parish in Taunton.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, he leaves: 2 sons: Leo A. Hooben of So. Boston, and Derek H. Hooben and his companion, Meghan Pollard of Falmouth; 1 daughter: Shellie Lynn Hooben of Worcester; 2 brothers: Lawrence Hooben and his wife, Leona of Raynham, and Lester “Toby” Hooben and his wife, Colleen of Berkley; 4 sisters: Luanne Clark and her husband, Douglas of Attleboro, Linda Raposa and her husband, Charles of Taunton, Laura Holmes and her husband, Roger of Lakeville, and Leslie Hooben and her companion, John Smith of Taunton; 5 grandchildren: Collin Mastriano, Hailee Hooben, Michael Franks, Jacob Hooben, and Nevaeh Hicks, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
