Kevin J. Rooney of Natick, a retired mail clerk with Houghton Mifflin of Boston, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Hebrew Senior Life Center of Roslindale. He was eighty-three years old.
Born and raised in Waltham, he was the son of the late Leonard and Ruth (Fahy) Rooney. He attended Lawrence Academy and Boston College and then Kevin spent over fifteen years working with Houghton Mifflin Publishers of Boston.
He was an avid Boston Sports Fan especially the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics and was a faithful member of St. Patrick’s and St. Linus Churches of Natick.
He loved to read, write and dabble as an artist; however, he passion was singing. He was a member of the Sunshine Coral Group at the Hebrew Center and the Natick Senior Center’s Goldenaires.
Mr. Rooney was the brother of the late Ruth Grupposo and her late husband Anthony and a loving uncle of Mark Grupposo of Natick, uncle and Godfather of John Grupposo and his wife Diana of Tampa, Florida, Ellen Knott and her husband Steve of Natick and Joanne Miga and her husband Christopher of Franklin. Also survived by nine great nieces and nephews.
Funeral from The John Everett & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, June 11th at 8:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford St., Natick at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
Visiting hours Thursday morning from 8:00-9:30AM in the funeral home.
