Obituary

Gerard R. Huot, 61, of Manchester, died June 4, 2015 at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Manchester on September 9, 1953 to John and Anne Marie (Tessier) Huot. He earned a bachelor’s degree from New Hampshire College in 1988 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Gerard served in the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard for 23 years. He saw active duty in both the Vietnam and Iraq wars. He was discharged at the rank of Technical Sergeant. He later worked with the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years.
He was very active with his children’s youth sports leagues and had been a soccer coach and referee with high school varsity boys soccer and woman’s leagues. He was a former Volunteer of the Year at the Manchester Junior Soccer League West.
Gerard was a devout Catholic and a communicant at St. Joseph Cathedral. He served as a lector and religious education teacher. He was also a devoted family man.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Therese Huot-Keeler.
The family includes his wife of 37 years, Margaret A. (MacDowell) Huot of Manchester; six children, Stephanie M. Ducharme and her husband, Brian, and Christine A. Huot all of Manchester, Natalie K. Kounelas and her husband, Christopher, of Fairfax, VT, Jason G. Huot and Catherine M. Huot both of Manchester, and Lauren E. Huot of Waterford, ME; four grandchildren, Paradise, Anika, Reece and Zoey; five siblings, Henry J. Huot and his spouse, Rodney Johnson, of Arlington, VA, Richard A. Huot of Middletown, CT, Roland M. Huot and his wife, Simonne, of Litchfield, Priscille M. Huot of Manchester and Michael J. Huot and his wife, Bobbi Jo, of Northwood; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at St. Joseph Cathedral, corner of Pine and Lowell streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
