FLAHERTY, David F. Longtime Wellesley and Yarmouthport resident, age 81, died peacefully on June 5, 2015 after a brief illness. David was born February 26, 1934 the youngest of five children of the late Peter Flaherty and Mabel (Rourke) Flaherty of Worcester. He graduated from Saint John’s High School in 1952 and in 1956 from Providence College. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1965 at Suffolk University Law School. He had a successful 40 year career in the pharmaceutical industry. During these years he worked at Pfizer, Bristol Myers and Fleming Company. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many years on Cape Cod at the Bayberry Hills Golf Course. His humor and wit will be missed by all.
Surviving are his wife Mary Ellen Flaherty of Wellesley and their four children, Elizabeth Dufton and her husband Philip of Reading, David Flaherty and his wife Jennifer of Broomfield, Colorado, Stephen Flaherty of Boulder, Colorado and Kathleen Fayerweather and her husband William of Wellesley, 8 grandchildren, one brother Robert P. Flaherty of Orleans, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Peter T. Flaherty, Jr., John A. Flaherty, and his sister Elizabeth D. Kelleher.
Visiting Hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) WELLESLEY, Wednesday, June 10 from 4-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home Thursday, June 11 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
