Obituary

Frederick H. White, Jr., 81, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Home and Hospice Inpatient Center surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Dianne A. (Mitchell) White. They had been married for 58 years.
Born in Cranston, a son of the late Frederick H. and Marion (Gushee) White. He had lived in Cranston his whole life. He served with the United States Navy and was assigned to the Naval base in Annapolis, MD, during the Korean conflict.
Fred also served with the Rhode Island State Police and retired in 1978 after 23 years of service holding the rank of Lieutenant. During his career he was assigned as a member of the Executive Security Unit for former Governor John A. Notte, Jr. Upon his retirement from the State Police he served for 10 years as the Director of Safety and Security for the Rhode Island School of Design, and then 9 years as the Director of Building and Grounds for the Smithfield School Department. After retiring from his full time positions Fred worked part time for the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home in Greenville.
Besides his wife he leaves his children, Bonnie J. White, Raymond S. White and his wife, Barbara, Jana L. Schnell and her husband, David, Paula L. Taylor and her husband, Philip, all of Cranston and Paul L. White and his wife, Margie of Warwick, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Donald White and half-brother of the late Truman Lintlop.
His funeral service will be held Monday at 10am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation Sunday 2-6pm and Monday 8:30-9:30am.
