Nuwayser, Rosette S,
Dearly loved sister, aunt, and friend, died on June 3, 2015. Rosette, 87, was the daughter of Sami A. Nuwayser and Rasha (Haddad) Nuwayser of Beirut, Lebanon.
After graduating from Lebanon’s Conservatory of Music, Rosette taught piano in Beirut and was organist at St. Francis Catholic Church in Beirut. In addition, she served as Executive Secretary for Middle East Publications and as Business Manager of the Middle East Forum, a quarterly publication of the American University of Beirut. On moving to Boston in 1987, Rosette served as Library Assistant, Middle East Division of Harvard University’s Widener Library, and as Research Librarian at Biotek, Inc., of Woburn, MA.
Rosette is survived by her sister, Georgette Fox of Scarborough, England, and her brothers, Elie Nuwayser and his wife Ruth Anne (Kurani) Nuwayser of Wellesley, MA, and Fuad Nuwaysir and his wife Sondra (Haimowitz) Nuwaysir of Sarasota, FL. Her sister Mary Jamal, of Beirut, predeceased her in 2010. Many nephews and nieces, their spouses and children also survive Rosette.
Rosette was an active volunteer in her church and with Catholic Charities of Boston; she served as Eucharistic Minister at Mount Auburn Hospital, and provided telephone assistance for the needy at St. Patrick’s Church in Watertown. In 2013 she moved into St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham MA where she received loving care from the staff and the nuns during the last years of her life. Her Christian devotion and generosity will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be from the George Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Route 16) in Wellesley on Saturday, June 6 at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Wellesley, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting Hours Friday June 5, 6 - 9 pm. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
