Ruth Joycelene Saylor Lloyd, 83, Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at The Nazareth Home in Louisville. Ruth was born in Coldiron, Kentucky on January 1, 1932.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jimmy) Clifton Lloyd, her parents E.M Saylor and Nora Osborne Saylor, sisters, Viola Calloway and Ruby Randall, and brothers, Virgil and Vernon Saylor. She is survived by her brothers, Ralph Saylor and Glenn (Jean) Saylor.
Ruth was an enthusiastic University of Kentucky fan and was very involved in her community and the Mill Creek Community Council. She was also a charter member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church. Her real pride and joy were her three daughters, who she raised to be strong and compassionate women.
Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Deborah George (James) of Keller, Texas, Pamela Starnes (Dan) and Jamie Simpson (Jeff) of Louisville, Kentucky, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The family thanks the staff of The Nazareth Home for their impeccable and compassionate care given to their mother during her last days.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Owen Funeral Home with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Garden West.
