Obituary


BUXTON- Ada May Field Weed, age 94, of Groveville Road, passed away on May 31, 2015 at The Cedars in Portland.
She was born in Freeport, ME on June 20, 1920, a child of the late Stephen and Jenny (Simpson) Murray and attended Freeport schools.
She started her career in healthcare as a CNA, then worked her way through nursing school to become an LPN. Most of her career was spent at Parkview Hospital in Brunswick as an operating room tech. After retiring, she worked as an elder care nurse.
Ada enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, traveling, the Scottish games, studying Murray family history, and Murray Clan get-togthers at Winslow Park in South Freeport. In the past, Ada had been active in the Dorcas Society in Brunswick and Portland.
She is predeceased by her first husband- Clinton H. Field; her second husband- Raymond Weed; and her brothers & sisters.
Ada is survived by her daughters- Audrey Groves of Buxton and Carol Greer of South Portland; adopted daughter- Jenny Falcon West of TX; half sister- Anna Cogswell; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 3 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22), Buxton. Burial will be on Friday at 11 AM at Burr Cemetery in Freeport. Online condolence messages can be submitted at the funeral home's website – www.mainefuneral.com
