Alberta Emily Dix Anderson, 85, of Lake Park, Georgia, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at her daughter’s home in North Augusta, South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Dix Farms, 3977 Highway 129, Abbeville with Sister Joyce Croft officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7 Wednesday evening at Dix Farms.
Mrs. Anderson was born December 26, 1929, at her family home place near Abbeville, to the late Albert & Kate Evans Dix. She attended Wilcox County High School and graduated from Georgia Southern College with a Bachelors degree in Home Economics. She taught in elementary and high schools in Georgia and Florida. Mrs. Anderson lived most of her life in Lake Park. She and her husband, Rev. A.M. Anderson, owned and operated South Georgia Communications for many years. Alberta was a lovely lady of Christian family principles, gentle spirit, southern charm, and grace. She lived her life with strength and courage throughout a long illness. Alberta’s ongoing legacy is lived through the values and lessons she taught and which will continue through her children, grandchildren, and all those friends and family whose lives she touched. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. A.M. Anderson of Lake Park; her children and their spouses: Emily Anderson of North Augusta, South Carolina, Anita & Jim Russell of Lake Park, and Janet & John Holland of Knoxville, Tennessee; her grandchildren: Evan Selph, Ethan Selph, Amy Holland, and Nathan Holland; her siblings: Daisy Moody of Jesup, Marvin Dix of Abbeville, and Sister Carole Walton of North Augusta, South Carolina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joe Ann Barley; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Dix; and a brother-in-law, Richard Moody.
