Belmont-----William " Bill" P. Ambrose, 79, of Magnolia Lane, beloved husband and father, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
William was born on September 1, 1935 in Winthrop, Mass. the son of Louis and Celia (Mask) Ambrose. He had been a resident of New Hampshire for the past twenty five years after moving from Mass. Bill was a teacher and assistant principal at Bedford High School in Bedford Mass for many years. He served in the National Guard, achieving the rank of Colonel.
Bill was a Member of the Franklins Elks Lodge Post #1280, the Dade City Florida Moose Lodge, The American Legion and The Concord Eagles. He enjoyed his friends and family, traveling, camping, golf and winters in Florida.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathleen A. Ambrose, of Belmont; a son, William Ambrose and wife Cathy, of Westminster, CO; two daughters, Barbara McKinney and husband Joseph, of Jacksonville, FL and Julie Murphy and husband James, of Delafield, WI; a stepson, Jonathan Drenas and Shannon, of Fountain Valley, CA ; six grandchildren, James and Jay Murphy, Estelle and Tessa Ambrose, Lewis McKinnie and Lilly Drenas; a brother, Edwin Ambrose and his wife, Lois, of Winthrop, MA; a sister, Shiela Caggiano of Shrewsbury, MA. In addition to his parents William was predeceased by two brothers Louis and James Amborse and a sister Marie Turner.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau- Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Peasant Street, Laconia, NH using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 96 Main Street Belmont, NH 03220.
Burial will be held in NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 2:30pm.
