Mrs. Joanne M. Evans, of Stoneham formerly of Woburn passed away peacefully at her home on, May 31, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Joanne was the beloved wife of the late Albert D. "Bert" Evans. Born in Woburn, Joanne was one of five children of the late Bernard C. and Eleanor R. (Smith) McLaughlin.
Joanne was raised and educated in Woburn and was a 1949 graduate of St. Charles High School. She was a beloved employee for many years of the Woburn Nursing Home and following her retirement she worked for many years at the St. Charles Church Rectory. Family was Joanne's main focus in life. She truly enjoyed caring for other people and especially cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she was most proud of. In her free time Joanne loved to spend time at the beach and prior to her husbands passing, together they enjoyed all kinds of dancing whether a night out with friends or at any special family event they could always be found on the dance floor having a great time.
In addition to her late husband, Joanne is predeceased by her son, Mark Evans, granddaughter, Jolene Murphy, sister, Patricia McLaughlin, and brother, Bernard J. McLaughlin.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Patricia Antonellis and her husband Richard of Falmouth, Elayna Evans of Stoneham, Brenda Neshe and her husband Richard of Waltham, Paula Hanley and her husband Matthew of Arlington, Diana Cullen and husband Jay of Manchester, NH. She is also lovingly survived by 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Cherished sister of Paul C. McLaughlin and Brendar Mahoney, both of Woburn, and is further survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday, June 4th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Joanne's memory to St. Charles Church, 280 Main St. Woburn, MA 01801.
