Michelina E. “Mickey” (Rago) Farmusa passed away at the Beth Israel - Deaconess Medical Center on Thursday night. She was 89. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Maria Antonia (Raffaele) Rago. A life-long North Ender, Mickey was devoted to her family and friends. She was an active part of St. Stephen’s Parish and was a past Regent of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. A past member of the Sons of Italy, she was a teacher’s aid with the Boston Public Schools.
The beloved wife of the late Anthony Farmusa, who passed away in 2001, she was a devoted and loving mother to Anthony Farmusa of Chelsea. The dear sister of the late Frank and Nicholas Rago, Virginia DiBenedetto, Gaetano Rago, Lucy Szydolwski, Josephine Petralia, James Rago, Mary Chaisson and John “Scotty” Rago, she also leaves many dear nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday June 2nd at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Stephen Church, Hanover St, Boston’s North End at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
