LOWELL—Mabel (Nelson) Etchells, 86 years old, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Wednesday evening at the Sunny Acres Nursing Home, in Chelmsford. She was the wife of the late Clarence E. Etchells, who died in November of 1996.
She was born in Lowell, on September 4, 1918, a daughter of the late Arvid and Mabel (Wilson) Nelson, and was a graduate of Lowell Public Schools.
Mrs. Etchells was employed as a Nurses assistant at the former Beaconcrest Nursing Home, the Battles Home and the Old Ladies Home, in Lowell. Previously she had worked in the Lowell mills.
Surviving her are a daughter: Dawn L. Billingsley, of Lowell; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Robert F. and Nancy Etchells, of Dracut; and David H. Etchells, of Maine; six grandchildren: Michael, Kenneth, Melissa, Christine, Treena Landers, and Lia Romani, also ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: George and Mary Downey, of New Jersey.
Friends may call on Sunday, March 13th, from 4 until 8 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial in the Lowell Cemetery.
