Obituary

A Memorial Service for Walter Scott Turner, 54, of Porter, Maine, formerly of Hingham and Pembroke will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 2 PM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 1-2 PM.

Mr. Turner died on Feb. 19th in the Glenridge Nursing Facility in Augusta, Maine after a lengthy illness..

Born in Weymouth, MA. he graduated from Hingham High School. He received a bachelor's degree in industrial art education and a master's degree in education from Fitchburg State College.

Mr. Turner taught at Dedham High School for 14 years. He also worked five years for General Motors.

He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Turner was an avid skier, fisherman and hunter, a member of the Sierra Club and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by a son, Ensign Keith T. Turner, USNR, of Hiram, Maine, formerly of Roslindale, MA, stationed at Norfolk, VA.; his mother, Carol (Whiting) Turner of Hingham; a brother, Fred R. Turner, Jr. of Coral Springs, Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Fred R. Turner.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the W. Scott Turner Memorial Scholarship Fund, Dedham High School, 140 Whiting Ave., Dedham, MA 02026.

The interment is private.
