TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Sarah Jane “Sadie” (McGonagle) Fallon, age 91, died peacefully at Lowell General Hospital, Saint’s Campus, after a brief illness on Friday morning, May 29. She was the beloved wife for 46 years of the late Richard F. Fallon Sr., who died on August 19, 1991.
She was born in Somerville, MA, in December 1923, one of ten children of the late Patrick J. and Ellen (Canney) McGonagle, and was raised in Charlestown. She had resided in Tewksbury for the past fifty-one years, where she was a communicant of St. William’s Parish.
She began her working career at the Charlestown Navy Yard, and retired from Compugraphic/AGFA in Wilmington as a wiring and harness crafts-woman.
In addition to raising her family and her career, she enjoyed travel to Ireland, Florida, and throughout New England, loved Irish Music, flowers in her gardens, summertime around the family pool, but most of all enjoyed family gatherings held anywhere.
She leaves five children, Richard F. Fallon Jr., Sandra M. Fallon, and Linda A. Fallon, all of Tewksbury, John J. Fallon of Dorchester, and Brian S. Fallon and his wife Patricia (Donovan) Fallon of Kensington, NH; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen Fleming and her husband Joseph of Charlestown, and Frances Hall of Somerville; a brother, Phillip McGonagle of Weymouth; two sisters-in-law, Anne McGonagle of Charlestown, and Virginia “Ginger” McGonagle of Wakefield; a brother-in-law, Frederick Greatorex of Humarock; numerous nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by her siblings, Anna Greatorex, Marjorie Carr, John McGonagle, Mary Hickey, Joseph McGonagle, and Patrick McGonagle.
Visiting hours Tuesday, June 2, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, North Tewksbury.
