LEICESTER: William P. Flis, 70, of Main Street died Tuesday, May 26 in his home after an illness.
He leaves two daughters from his first marriage to Pamela J. Smith of Fitchburg. Rebecca A. Cochran and her husband Steven of Leominster and Kimberley L. Flis of Fitchburg, his mother Annette G.(Gurnick) Flis of Brookfield, a brother John M. Flis and his wife, Helen of Groton, CT, three grandsons; Patrick W. Cochran, Aidan R. Cochran and John M. Flis., two nieces, Michelle Jolly and Marie Burns and their families. He also leaves his very good friend Charlene Frans, who cared for him while he was ill.
Mr. Flis was born and raised in Ware, son of the late John M. Flis. He was a bookkeeper and leasing agent at Edgewater Hills in Framingham for several years before retiring. He was also an elected official for the Town of Leicester for several years. He graduated from Ware High School and Fitchburg State College. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the National Audubon Society.
At the family's request no formal funeral services are planned. A celebration of life is being planned. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
