Patricia A. (Tourinho) Duarte, age 77, of Brockton, died peacefully after a long illness on May 27, 2015 at Signature Healthcare-Brockton Hospital. She was the wife for 41 years of the late Eugene W. Duarte. Born in East Wareham, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Minnie (Gonsalves) Tourinho. Patricia was raised and educated in Brockton, and had been employed at Raytheon, Foxboro Company and Child World. She was an athlete in her youth, and continued to play softball into her early 50’s. She garnered numerous awards for bowling, softball and other sports to name a few. She was an avid Doris Day fan and enjoyed writing poetry, singing, drawing and celebrating her favorite holiday, Christmas. Patricia was known for her faith and unconditional love…not only for her children but all who came in contact with her.
For instance, during her stays at various medical facilities she was an inspiration to all who took care of her, and the family is grateful for their care.
Patricia is survived by her children Karen Pollard of Bloomfield, CT, Darren Duarte and his wife Wanda of Brockton, Tracy Silva and her husband Chris of Taunton and Brian Duarte of Brockton.
Patricia is the grandmother of Sharrisse Lewis of Erie, PA, Julian Pollard and his wife Alicia along with Devin and Amaiyah Duarte of Brockton; Chris Jr. and Alyssa Silva of Taunton and Jennifer and Patricia Pollard of Connecticut.
She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Felix Tourinho of Taunton, Lydia Gabourel of Naples, FL, Mildred Walker of Taunton, Jack Tourinho of Port Charlotte, FL and the late Walter Tourinho.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Sunday 3-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Brockton Assembly of God Church, 199 Warren Avenue, Monday at 11am. Burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
