Preceded in death by sister Dorothy and granddaughter Kari Lynn. Survived by his caring and loving wife Ann and her son Glenn (Pam), sister Shirley Brekke (Don), sons Chris (Nancy), Michael, and daughters Jennifer Gobel (Mark), Carlynn Trout (Dennis) and Molly Thorsen Connolly (John) and 10 grandchildren. Carl graduated from Johnson High School (1946) and Macalester College (Class of 1950), where he played hockey and baseball. He served in the Army in the 551st from 1950-52. He was a high school teacher at White Bear Lake Area High School (1955-1987). He was also a dedicated head varsity hockey and baseball coach. Inducted into the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1992. He also worked at Tartan Park golf course for 23 years, retiring in 2009. His passions were playing and coaching sports and he will always be remembered for his sweet tooth and fine whistling. He will be greatly missed. Visitation Monday, June 8 from 4-7 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul and a Celebration of Carl's Life will be held Tuesday, June 9 from 3-6 PM at Keller Golf Course, 2166 Maplewood Dr., Maplewood.
