Manchester– Glenn F. Niles, 95, died May 27, 2015 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home following a brief illness.
He was born in Cambridge MA., on June 6, 1919. Glenn was the son of John and Vida (Decamp) Niles and grew up in Charlestown, NH.
Glenn served his country in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II, was a Sub Station Operator for PSNH for over 30 years, as well as a self employed Electrician.
He held membership in Manchester American Legion Post 79 as well as the Disabled American Veterans.
Proud of his Scottish heritage, Glenn and his wife Elaine traveled to Scotland numerous times to research family and make new friends.
Even with his recent illness, Glenn had an amazing memory and often reminded friends and family of special moments in the lives of people he loved.
His stories about the life he led never failed to entertain them. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by many.
Glenn was predeceased by his wife, Elaine (Dewar) Niles on May 22, 2005 and a sister Vina Vercauteren on October 28, 2010.
Family members include his nephew, Robert Vercauteren of Rochester, NH, his nieces, Nancy Vercauteren Dydo of Manassas Park, Virginia and Laurie Ann Sullo of Sandwich MA.
Calling hours will be on Saturday from 12:30 to 2:30 at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
A prayer service will be held at 2 PM in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Ontario, Canada at a later date.
