Obituary

Walter Kowalewski, 90, of Manville died Saturday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Jaqueline A. (Levitre) Kowalewski. They were married on August 25, 1951.
Born in Manville he was a son of the late Karol and Katherine (Kasyan) Kowalewski. He was a lifelong resident of Manville.
Mr. Kowalewski worked for American Tourister and Jacob Finkelstein for a number of years. He was later employed by the Lincoln School Department for many years until retiring.
Walter was a member of the Manville Memorial Park Association and also served as a member of the Lincoln School Committee. Every year Walter enjoyed planting a flourishing vegetable garden and shared the bounty of his green thumb with friends and neighbors.
Walter was a proud member of Red Sox nation and his love for baseball lasted from his earliest memories until his last breath.
Walter will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family who were the center of his life.
In addition to his wife of 63 years Walter was a wonderful dad to his son Gary W. Kowalewski and loved his daughter-in-law Denise as if she were his own daughter. Walter was the brother of the late Anna Kamfornik, Sophie Pietras and Genofa Hergenreder and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be Friday at 11:00am in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 71 Central St. Manville. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. A visiting time will be held from 10:30 am prior to the services.
