CHICOPEE – Gary C. Bujnicki, 69, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, May 24, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall East in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers. He was born in Holyoke on June 22, 1945, a beloved son of the late H. Paul Bujnicki and Irene (Fournier) Bujnicki. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from the former Precious Blood High School in Holyoke and was a lifelong resident of Fairview. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War with the 82nd Airborne Division and attained the rank of Private. He was last employed as a custodian by the Chicopee School Department at Bellamy Middle School and retired in 2012. Previously, he was employed as a machinist in the area. Active in his Catholic faith, he was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. He was a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus and the Fairview Assembly 2670, both in Chicopee and a member of the Springfield Photographic Society. During his leisure time, he enjoyed going to the beach and surfing the net. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who showered his family with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother-in-law, Dean Lepage. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Diane M. (Lepage) Bujnicki. They were married on April 6, 1973 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 42 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Kelly J. Hurley and her husband, Kevin, of Feeding Hills, Brian P. Bujnicki and his wife, Kelly, of Springfield, and Krystal I. DeJesus and her husband, Jonathan, of Chicopee; his five cherished grandchildren whom he adored, Ashley, Zachary and Alexis Hurley and Logan and Gavin DeJesus; his two dear sisters, Erleen LeDuc and her husband, Robert, of Longmeadow and Eloyce Pierog and her husband, Matthew, of Somers, CT; his dear father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roland and Dorothy (Raper) Lepage of Granville, his dear brother-in-law, David Lepage and his wife, Anne Marie, of Fulton, NY; his dear sister-in-law, Dale Lapointe and her husband, Philip, of Granville; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Bujnicki and Lepage families. His family would like to thank his nurses, Malia and Mary, and the entire staff at Heritage Hall East for the wonderful care that they provided. His funeral will be held on Friday morning, May 29, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (the funeral home will open at 7:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Army Honors will follow the Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
