TAUNTON – Nancy M. (Farias) Tavares, wife of David Tavares, died unexpectedly at her Taunton home on May 20, 2015.
She was 67.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of Rita (Dias) Gallego of Taunton and the late John Farias; and was the loving stepdaughter of the late Richard Gallego.
A lifelong resident of the area, Nancy was a 1965 graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School. She was employed by the Taunton Public School Department, working in the Superintendent’s office for over thirty-nine years.
She retired in 2009.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Nancy enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, shopping, and dining out with her husband.
She especially cherished spending time with her granddaughter, Raegan.
In addition to her husband, mother and granddaughter, she leaves her daughter, Shelley Barry and her husband Sean of Taunton, and her brother, Wayne Farias and his wife Carol of Westport.
She was also the stepsister of the late Scott Gallego.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, May 28th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 27th from 5 to 8 p.m.
