Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Elder Gloria Christine Eleazer, age 68 , sadly passed away on Friday May 22, 2015 at the Groton Regency Center after a short battle with cancer. At her side were her two daughters Natasha Eleazer and Dawn Eleazer-Milliner whom she loved dearly.
Gloria was born on August 6,1946 in New London, CT to Vernon Eleazer Sr. who survives her and Jennie Lee Sebastian. She was lovingly raised in the household of James and Essie Lockett in New London. Her siblings that she leaves behind include Vernon Eleazer, Betty Scott, Jean Marie Merrill, George Eleazer, Raymond Butler, Richard Butler, Robert Butler, Ralph Butler, Rudy Butler, Roy Butler, Sandra Preston, Agnes Black, Stanley Binion, Roland Brooks, Richard Good, Paul Goodnight and many nieces and nephews. Gloria was predeceased by two of her brothers, Rush K. Johnson, Jr. and Nathan Johnson.
Most important in Gloria’s life was her love of and service to Jehovah God as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over thirty-seven years. At every opportunity she spoke about God’s promise in the scriptures of a better life in his promised paradise to come soon, here on earth. Until that time she will also be missed by her extended family of Spiritual Brothers and Sisters.
Gloria loved to laugh and always had a beautiful smile. She was a strong woman and mother who made countless sacrifices for others.
She was a true friend and loved by many.
A private graveside service will be held for immediate family followed by a public Memorial Service for Gloria at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the Mystic Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mystic, Connecticut.
