TAUNTON/RAYNYHAM - Mary Louise (Machado) Alexander, our one-of-a-kind mother and Gram, passed away on May 20, 2015 following a brief illness.
Married to Andrew William “Bill” Alexander for 68 years, she lived in the Raynham-Taunton area all of her life.
One of sixteen children, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Isabella (Nichlau) Machado.
Mary had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
A self-made woman who only wanted the best for her family, she was fiercely independent and lived life on her own terms – always.
She had a special knack relating to children and had Pepsi and Hood ice cream on hand at all times.
Mary liked shopping, eating out, Foxwoods and Friday cards with the ladies, and she never forgot a family birthday.
For many years she worked with special needs children at Paul A. Dever School.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Patricia Ward and her husband Richard of Medway and Donald Alexander and his wife Peggy of Lindale, TX and her grandchildren, Kelley, Justin, Jessie, Lindsay, Caitlin and Andrew.
Her great-grandchildren, Ben, Zach, Jake, Taylor, Hunter, Bella and Calvin have a special place in their hearts for Gram.
She also leaves her brothers, Joseph and Dennis Machado, both of Raynham and Leon Machado of Wareham; her sister, Dulvina Perry of Taunton; cousins Mary and Agnes Pacheco; and many nieces and nephews.
