Evangeline Michy Westlake, known by family and friends as Vanny, went to be with the Lord Thursday May 21st at the age of 96. She previously lived in San Antonio, Texas and was residing at Maplewood Care Center in Springfield, Missouri at the time of her passing.
She was born July 3rd, 1918 to Walter and Hilda May in Seattle, Washington. She spent much of her childhood in Montevideo, Minnesota, until moving with her family to Anderson. Vanny married Bill Westlake, March 10th, 1940. She was a homemaker and teachers aid, retiring in the late 70's. She was a member of the Church of God in her community for many years. She returned to Anderson many times to attend the Church of God Convention. Vanny enjoyed sewing, making dolls, photography and taking care of animals.
Vanny is survived by two daughters, Jone Cuming of Branson, Missouri and Donna Baron of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, John (Beckey) Cuming, Paul Cuming, Elizabeth (Curt) Gaddis, Kristine (Dave) Anes, Della Carter, Vanessa Blodgett and Susannah Westlake; and many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Surviving from the Anderson area are David Dailey, Timothy Dailey, Peggy Roby, Carol Miller and Donna Rogers.
She was proceeded in death by her son William Westlake Jr.; sisters, Vivian Buehler, Genevieve Dailey, Mary Raisch, and Lucile Carlile; brother, Walter May; and her parents.
Visitation will be Monday, May 25th from 1:00-3:00 pm at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Home in Anderson, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Alson Ebanks officiating. Burial Committal services will be at 9:30 am Tuesday, May 26th at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana.
