Beverly A. (Ponte) Roynestad, 79, of Westport, passed away at home on Thursday, May 21, 2015. She was the former wife of the late Sigbjorn Roynestad.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Augustus A. and Elsie A. (Mahoney) Ponte she had resided in Westport for most of her life. She was a graduate of Kinyon-Campbell Business School and worked for the New Bedford Standard Times for several years. After raising her family, Mrs. Roynestad went on to receive her Certificate in Gerontology from UMASS Dartmouth and worked for the Westport Council on Aging as the coordinator of the Senior Social Day. Mrs. Roynestad loved spending time with her family, long car rides and going to the beach. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport.
Survivors include her son Sigbjorn Roynestad of Fall River; 2 daughters: Andrea E. Barrett and her husband Richard of Littleton and Heidi L. Roynestad of Fall River; 3 grandchildren: Jordan B. Barrett, Richard C. Barrett, III and Alexandra D. Barrett.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 9:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport.
Visitation will be from 8-9 A.M., prior to the Mass, at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
