Daniel A. Morris, Sr., 79, of New Bedford died Tuesday March 8, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Catherine J. (Bonner) Morris.
Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Frank and Julia (Rose) Morris, he had lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Morris was formerly employed as an airplane mechanic for Mass Air, Colonial Air, Southeast Air, and Plymouth Air.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel A. Morris, Jr., of Fairhaven, and Robert Daniel Morris of Pine Bush, NY; three daughters, Sandra Doucette of Fairhaven, and Susan Ayotte and Dawn Morris, both of New Bedford; a sister, Mary Jussaume of New Bedford; nine grandchildren, Heather Larkin, Danielle Doucette, Nicole Doucette, Jennifer Carreiro, Denise Ayotte, Renee Ayotte, Keith Ayotte, Christopher Morris, and Elizabeth Morris; and six great-grandchildren, Myles, Mason, Kaitlynn, Madison, Desiree and Jacob.
He was the brother of the late Albert "Curly" Morris and Hilda Needham.
His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 12, 2005 at 2 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. His family will receive visitors prior to the service from 12-2 PM. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be private.
