Eugene Willis Gibbs, 94, of Brookfield passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Gibbs at 4:00 p.m.Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Tift Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest. Rev. Dan Robinson and Mr. Roger Cherry will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 24, 2015, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Gibbs was born September 8, 1920 in Deland, Florida, the son of E. R. Gibbs and Mary Lou Owen Gibbs, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna Leigh Dover Gibbs, who died March 19, 2014; one son, Ronald “Ronnie” Eugene Gibbs; and one daughter, Edna Jean Gibbs. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Tift County ASCS Committee. He was a member of Brookfield United Methodist Church.
Mr. Gibbs is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Hilda and Cecil Davis of Brookfield, Ann and Chuck Roberts of Albany and Belle Harrell of Brookfield; one granddaughter, Monica Blair Gibbs of Orlando, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
