Obituary

Frank Motta, 85, of Dartmouth died Monday March 7, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mary (Teixeira) Motta.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Francisco and Rosa (Freitas) Motta, he had lived in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to Dartmouth 30 years ago.

He was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.

Mr. Motta was formerly employed as a truck driver for Freddy Dee's Narragansett Sales until his retirement.

During World War II, Mr. Motta served in the U.S. Navy and was a recipient of the American Theater medal and the World War II Victory medal.

He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 59 and an honorary member of Clube Madeirense S.S. Sacramento, Inc.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rosemarie Bruce, and her husband Dennis, of Dartmouth, and Beverly Mills, and her husband Edward, of Fairhaven; a brother, James Motta of New Bedford; a sister, Mary Benoit of Connecticut; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was the brother of the late Antone Motta and Boaventura Motta.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday March 11, 2005 at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church, North Dartmouth at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday March 10, 2005 from 5-8 PM. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private.
