Murphy, Sr. Beloved mother of retired Chelsea Fire Dept. Lt. Thomas J. Murphy, Jr. and his wife Charleen of Winthrop, Chelsea Police Lt. Janice Murphy of Winthrop, John B. Murphy and his wife Paula of Wilmington and the late Dennis Murphy. Loving sister of Phyllis Lawless and her husband Albert of Winchester. Cherished grandmother of Erin Murphy of Everett, Amelia, Dennis and Joseph Murphy all of Wilmington. Dear friend of Irene Sweeney of Chelsea. Born in Boston and a resident of Chelsea until 2 years ago, Virginia passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted family Thursday at the Whidden Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack at home just days earlier.
